COURSE

2017 Half Marathon Course Map

The Half Marathon Course will be the same as last year.   Start/finish  is at Cary-Grove High School,  2208 Three Oaks Road , Cary, IL., 60013 The half marathon course has been dubbed the most challenging in Northern Illinois and an excellent training race for spring marathons. All miles will be accurately marked with a sign marker. Water and a performance drink will be provided at approximate 2.5 mile intervals and at the finish line.  Gels will be distributed to runners near mile 7. There will be Chronomix timed finish line. Washrooms on course at 3, 4, 5, 7, 9  and 10 miles.  Brick washrooms at conservation area will also be open. Strollers, bikes, roller blades and dogs are not allowed on the course.

Course will close with a 3 hour time limit at 11:35 AM.  All runners that do not make the 8 mile mark by 10:35 AM (15 minute pace) will be turned early for their finish.  We reserve the right to end the race early if bad weather threatens the safety of the runners.  No Refunds!



SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Hillstriders Club will award scholarship money to  five graduating seniors from a McHenry County high school in memory of Fritz Kauffman.  20 special entries will be made available as charitable donations to promote the Hillstriders Scholarship Fund. See Hillstrider Scholarship for details. The Hillstriders Club have 20 entries for VIP runners.  VIP entries recieve special parking passes, private restrooms and VIP treatment on race day. Pre and post race refreshments in a private VIP lounge will be provided.  VIP entries cost $125 and will be used for our scholarship program.


PREMIUM/AMENITIES

A specially designed, zip up sweatshirt commemorating the 39th running of the March Madness race will be provided to the first 1000 pre-registered runners.  Finishing medals will be awarded to all runners that complete the course on race day.  Race cost is $ 55.


PACKET PICKUP

Packet pickup will be available on Saturday, March 18th from 10 AM – 4 PM at The Running Depot – 30 North Williams Street, Crystal Lake, IL 60014. http://www.therunningdepot.com/ Packet pickup will  also be available 6:30–8:00 AM at Cary-Grove High School on race day morning.











HALF MARATHON TRAINING PROGRAM

The Running Depot (Crystal Lake) is offering a half marathon training program targeting the 2017 March Madness Half Marathon.  The first 15 registrants will be guaranteed a March Madness entry.  Please click here for more information.


PARKING

The school parking lots will hold 575 cars.  Overflow lot located 1/2 mile east on Three Oaks Road as well as limited street parking.  Maps will be provided at the school. Parking across the street from the school at the church is prohibited.


FACILITIES

Registration and results will be held in the  gym on the east side of the school.  All runners and guests are restricted to the gym   and adjoining hallways.  Shower facilities are not available. Consumption of alcoholic beverages on school grounds is prohibited! In addition to the four washrooms inside the school, facilities are also available in the parking lot near the start/finish area.

AWARDS

Trophies will be awarded to overall winners.  Plaques will be given to 2nd - 10th place top males and females.   Medals will be awarded to age group winners (3 deep).  Approximate time schedule for Half Marathon awards is 11 AM.
